In commemoration of the late
Dr. Anncharlott Eschmann we present a selection of photographs taken by
her during her fieldwork among the Mahima Dharmis.
These photographic documents are important because they indicate continuation
and change in structures and buildings. We see the old Khaliapali ashram
before he became reconstructed and we see Joranda which looks still very
much the same. Of special interest are the portraits of Biswanath Baba,
the great reformer of Mahima Dharma who had such an influence on Anncharlott
Eschmann. What is even of greater importance is the representation of
the founder Baba of the Kardula branch of Mahima Dharma.
The original photographs as well as the copyright are with the South Asia
Institute Heidelberg. All photographs relating Mahima Dharma have been
digitalized and are accessible with Johannes Beltz » .
